Hey there!

My name is Lizzy, it's lovely to be writing to you.

I write poems, prolifically, from my home in Columbia, Illinois. By day, I am an operating room nurse. Several of my poems actually center around surgery and medicine (so check me out if you're interested in that). Coincidentally, and perhaps a little on the nose, I am incredibly inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's The Tell Tale Heart. That was the first time that I really became fond of poetry and the written word. In the spirit of anatomy, I also have a poem about organ donation and, specifically, retrieving a heart from someone. I didn't really make that connection until now, but I suppose it is a full-circle moment! I have also donated enough blood (and plasma) to participate in 248 patients' care.

I grew up in extreme poverty, so my only companion was often a pen.
I wrote on the leaves. I wrote on my nightstand. I doodled and wrote on every piece of paper that I could find, much to the disapproval of my parents, as most of our books are "annotated" with my nonsense. So, yeah, that's me. I released my first book in December and I'm wicked proud of it.

I write about sweeping romance, devastating grief, sexual assault, womanhood in the modern world, and social justice. My poems have been described as "raw and bruising". I am inclined to agree.
